The actor/stand-up comic talked for nearly 10 straight minutes, frequently cracking up the crowd and Kimmel himself with a hilarious account of her Groupon-purchased trip through a Louisiana swamp with Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, her Girls Trip co-star (Jada shared a more subdued account the previous night during her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon). It doesn't take long for Ryan to find out about the affair, but it is complicated since her agent (a very amusing Kate Walsh) has come to New Orleans to lock in a sweet deal for a joint TV show for Ryan and retired National Football League star Stewart offering relationship advice. I'm willing to bet you'll be plotting on the experience before you leave your seat in the theater. "You from Baltimore, bitch'".
The comedian also revealed that she picked up her cohorts in her rental auto, and while Will was all for it ("He [was] like, 'Whoa, it's been years since I've been in a regular vehicle!'"), Jada was more apprehensive. "Her career is just gonna take off".
Will Smith's wife came clean about her early hustle during a US radio interview with DJ Sway Calloway on Wednesday (19Jul17), revealing she is planning to tell all in a future memoir.
The feeling among critics who've seen the raunchy flick, which appears poised to be obscenely popular, is virtually unanimous. "When Tiffany has her hands around her face and is like, 'Oh, my God, I'm on stage with Diddy, ' that's real". "A full-on star-making role", says The Guardian.
Fittingly, Lee highlights the structure in some lovely New Orleans skyline shots. Clearly, someone's being set up for a comeuppance via the titular getaway to New Orleans, where all four women will attend the Essence Festival, and where Ryan will deliver a pivotal keynote speech inevitably centering on what she learned from her Girls on their wild Trip. The accolades go on and on and on and on. Haddish is amusing as hell and made everything in "Girls Trip" even greater. "I am not a thief!"
Naturally the pair's close friendship features in the new biopic about Tupac's life, but the actress chose to speak out about inaccuracies she was less than impressed by.
"I'm like, "Well I thought you got a coupon for a group, meaning the four of us could go on one of those fan boats". I don't know if she was trying to tell me something. It's a tad rough around the edges at times but there's a far more confident grip on both ribald comedy and the dynamics of female friendship at play, a combination that helps to elevate what could have seemed like a string of comic set pieces. Aside from "Bridesmaids", women have subpar equivalents like this year's "Rough Night"- and not much else.
Believe the hype. Savor the moment. We had such a great time! If it were 2013, we'd call her "your bff"; by any measure, she is the it-girl du jour.
"And she said, 'Tiffany, what the f**k is a Groupon?" she continued. From this vantage point, the sky is the limit.
