At the Friday news conference, Trump said he planned to talk in "the very near future" about whether audiotapes exist from his February 14 conversation with Comey - a discussion at which the former Federal Bureau of Investigation chief says Trump told him he hoped Justice Department investigators would "let go" former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
The U.S. House Intelligence Committee leaders sent a letter to the White House today, asking if any tape recordings exist of conversations between ousted FBI Director James Comey and President Donald Trump.
At a White House press conference with Romanian President Klaus Werner Iohannis, Mr Trump rejected Mr Comey's damning testimony at the Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on Friday (AEST).
Q Always fair. Mr. President, can we get back to James Comey's testimony. You suggested he didn't tell the truth in everything he said.
Trump said, "Yesterday showed no collusion, no obstruction. That was an excuse by the Democrats, who lost an election they shouldn't have lost".
"I hardly know the man [Mr Comey]", he said.
Comey implied that Trump fired him for moving forward with the Russian Federation investigation, despite the president asking for Comey's "loyalty".
In his first congressional appearance since being abruptly fired by Trump last month, Comey on Thursday detailed months of distrust of the president and bluntly asserted that Trump had fired him to interfere with the probe of Russia's ties to the Trump campaign.

The 12-member jury, which was selected from the Pittsburgh area, includes seven men and five women, along with six alternates. She has already traveled from Toronto to Pennsylvania, but it's not yet clear when prosecutors will call her to the stand.
"I hope you can let this go", Trump reportedly said to Comey, according to the memo - parts of which were read to the Times. "I mean, I will tell you, I didn't say that", Mr Trump replied.
Mr Trump also said he never asked Mr Comey for a pledge of loyalty.
When Comey was sacked, the White House alluded to the director's failure to move forward with the investigation of 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server.
"I didn't say that", Trump said again. "I'm not hinting anything".
But Donald Trump refused to say whether his private conversations with the fired FBI Director were taped - an issue at the centre of conflicting accounts of what passed between them.
