Carl Frampton to face Andres Gutierrez in Belfast

The pair will face off against each other at the SSE Arena on Saturday 29 July in a WBC world featherweight title eliminator.

Frampton will face off against Mexico's Gutierrez in Belfast's SSE Arena with the victor going on to fight Gary Russell Jr for the title.

Frampton has not fought since his first career loss to Leo Santa Cruz in their WBA title fight in Las Vegas in January.

"It seems nobody wants to fight me but Carl Frampton chose to fight me and I'm very excited about the fight because it's going to be a war, that's what I expect - a war".

"But I understand why he didn't come".

He added: 'I can't wait to get going again. There were no dates available for a pay-per-view date. A year ago, he lost a decision to Cristian Mijares in what was supposed to be a featherweight fight, but Gutierrez missed weight badly.

Gutierrez, known as "The Jaguar", was handed his first professional loss past year when former Santa Cruz victim Christian Mijares beat him on a majority decision, with Gutierrez grossly missing weight for the contest.

"I'm very excited to be boxing back in Belfast", he said. He's got home field advantage, and more importantly, he's been in with and beaten much better competition. "I'm going to put in soul, life, and heart and I will fight for what I most want, that's why I'll prevail". The atmosphere can't be replicated; it's spectacular.

He added: 'This is a big challenge for me, it's the first time I've been so far away from home. I wanted this to be in a big arena but it just wasn't to be this time.

"I will need to be at my best and, if I'm not, I may lose this fight". "This guy is an avoided fighter". He's a whirlwind and he won't leave you alone. "It will be action-packed from start to finish".
