Even though the Broncos' offer to Miller was publicized as for six years at $114.5 million, Robinson says it amounted to little more than a two-year deal for less than $40 million because the Broncos would have had options to cut Miller.
Miller was hit with the exclusive right franchise tag in March, and the deadline to reach an extension is July the 15th. "Let us get him back here, let us sort through everything that took place, let us make sure we understand what we have to do from a physical standpoint and then we'll go from there".
He also said he was hopeful he'd sign his extension soon: "We've made real progress over the last couple of days". It is not known if Talib had a licensed weapon and was shot at, or whether he shot himself.
"He's very accountable around here, and I don't expect any of that to change", Kubiak said.
The breakdown came over "significant differences in how the deal was structured", KUSA reported, noting that guaranteed dollars, particularly in the first three years of a deal, typically are key to long-term National Football League contracts.
While Elway is certainly pragmatic in his negotiating tactics, Miller is worth every penny of being the highest paid defensive player in the NFL.
